A PETITION THAT was launched yesterday morning to stop TG4 from axing their popular Friday night programme Seó Spóirt, has already gained over 1,000 signatures.
It was announced on Tuesday that recently-installed TG4 chief executive Alan Esslemont had taken the decision that the show – presented by Kerry All-Ireland football winner Dara Ó Cinnéide – would end after the Allianz league finishes this April.
At the time of writing, the petition has 1,158 signatures. It was launched by Waterford native Barry Dunne yesterday and is calling for the decision to be reversed.
Several GAA stars like Kerry’s Tomás and Marc Ó Sé, Dublin’s Ciaran Kilkenny and James McCarthy, Kilkenny’s Michael Rice and Monaghan’s Dick Clerkin have expressed their disappointment this week at the decision.
The Friday night show is currently in its 11th season. TG4′s GAA Beo presenter Micheál Ó Domhnaill was the original presenter of Seó Spóirt before Ó Cinnéide took over in 2009.
