SHANE LOWRY WILL go into the final round of the Welsh Open tomorrow two shots behind Joost Luiten after the Dutchman shot a six under 65, and birdied three of his last four holes.

Lowry shot a respectable three under par 68 but stills trails Luiten (14 under) , who many thought was unlucky to miss out on one of the wildcard selections for Paul McGinley’s European Ryder Cup team.

Both men started well and each made three birdies in their first six holes. Despite being two shots in arrears, Lowry will enter the final round at Celtic Manor with confidence after having a bogey-free Saturday.

There is a hungry chasing pack just behind the top two, with Gregory Havret and Thongchai Jaidee three behind Luitten on eleven under par.
