IN THE GRAND scheme of things, it made very little difference.

Stade Francais, playing with 14 men for the duration of the second-half, completely bullied Munster and inflicted a 27-7 defeat on Anthony Foley’s beleaguered side.

The southern province left themselves with a mountain to climb after surrendering a 10-point deficit but the door appeared to open when Josaia Raisuqe was sent-off shortly before half-time.

Nigel Owens showed the Fijian winger red after he appeared to put two fingers in the eye of Munster’s captain CJ Stander.

Television Match Official Derek Bevan alerted the referee to the incident and the officials came to the conclusion that the act of foul play was worthy of a red card.

However, Munster failed to make their numerical advantage count and instead conceded another two tries during the second period to suffer a humbling and damaging defeat.
