MAYO BOOKED THEIR place in the All-Ireland football championship final for the third time in five years this afternoon as they did enough to see off a spirited Tipperary outfit at Croke Park.

Stephen Rochford’s men were forced to endure some nervy moments but eventually got the job done to advance to next month’s decider — and their 2-13 to 0-14 victory was underpinned by several standout performances.

On RTÉ’s The Sunday Game, panelists Jarlath Burns, Dessie Dolan and Tomás Ó Sé singled out Aidan O’Shea, Andy Moran and Keith Higgins for praise.

In the end, they selected Higgins as the man-of-the-match from today’s semi-final — although O’Shea earned the award from Sky Sports.
