New Tyrone champs end 64-year wait with final win after penalties and All-Ireland finalists triumph in Down

Scotstown celebrated club football glory in Monaghan.

DUNGANNON CELEBRATED A historic breakthrough in the Tyrone senior championship when winning the final after a dramatic penalty shootout against champsion Trillick tonight.

It finished 1-12 apiece after extra-time before Ciaran Barker proved Dungannon’s hero by scoring the winning penalty.

Thes success capped an incredible season for Dungannon as all four of their championship ties went to extra-time before they won tonight on penalties.

Elsehwere 2020 All-Ireland club finalists Kilcoo won out again in Down with seven points to spare in their decider with Carryduff. Mickey Moran guided his team to victory by 0-16 to 0-9 in Páirc Esler tonight as they collected their eighth title in nine years in the county.

Scotstown are senior football champions once more in Monaghan with Conor McCarthy hitting 1-5 in their final victory over Ballybay. After being denied in their bid for five-in-a-row in last year’s decider, they savoured their 1-14 to 0-7 success in Clones tonday.

Tullamore have an Offaly final to look forward to after their semi-final success this evening over defending champions Ferbane. It took a penalty shootout to settle the issue before Tullamore prevailed 9-8 after it ended 0-17 to 1-14 after extra-time. Rhode await in the battle for silverware.

Gaeil Colmcille are through to the Meath decider in the senior football championship for the first time since 1991, when they last lifted the trophy. They saw off Na Fianna 2-15 to 0-13 in their semi-final clash today with current kingpins Ratoath awaiting in the final.

Baltinglass lifted their first Wicklow senior football crown since 2016 after emerging 1-13 to 1-9 victors over Tinahely while the Derry quarter-final action concluded with the semi-final line-up set to see Slaughtneil meet Ballinderry and Loup face Magherafelt.

And in Cavan the reign of Castlerahan as champions is over after Crosserlough defeated them while Kingscourt saw off Cavan Gaels in the semi-final ties.
