UNSETTLED MANCHESTER UNITED striker Wayne Rooney was handed a starting berth by England manager Roy Hodgson in Wednesday’s friendly against Scotland at Wembley Stadium.
The 27-year-old is reportedly considering his United future and has missed the club’s entire pre-season campaign through injury, but he was named at the tip of the England attack against Gordon Strachan’s side.

The fixture, the oldest in international football, is being played to mark the 150th anniversary of the Football Association and will be the 111th meeting between the neighbouring countries.
United manager David Moyes, working as a television pundit on the game, said he was happy to see Rooney back in action.
“Everybody likes to see Wayne Rooney playing well,” he said on ITV. “He has only played 45 minutes all pre-season (in a behind-closed-doors friendly against Real Betis) so he needs games.
“It’s pre-season, you’ve got to get your players fit, so it is a plus that he is getting a bit of a go tonight.”
