WES HOOLAHAN’S RECENT fine form continued, as the Ireland international helped Norwich move up to second in the Championship yesterday.

Hoolahan played 79 minutes as a brace from Bradley Johnson inspired the Canaries to a 2-0 victory over Sheffield Wednesday, for whom Keiren Westwood played the full match.

Hoolahan, who has been in excellent form for his club of late, had a hand in the first goal, with his run leading to the corner from which the opener was scored, and producing an influential display that left the Twitterati impressed.

Elsewhere in the Championship, Ireland U21 international Tommie Hoban played the full match, as Watford beat Middlebrough 2-0, with former Ireland U18 international striker Patrick Bamford playing 90 minutes for the latter.

Darron Randolph conceded four goals, as Bournemouth came from behind to beat Birmingham 4-2, with Ireland’s Harry Arter playing the full match, and almost continuing his fine goalscoring run of late when he hit the woodwork in the second half.

After his stunning goal the other week, Dubliner Alan Judge started for promotion-chasing Brentford, as they drew 2-2 with Nottingham Forest.

Eoin Doyle played 78 minutes in Cardiff’s 3-0 loss to Neil Lennon’s Bolton, with Paddy McCarthy an unused sub for the Trotters.

Mick McCarthy’s Ipswich saw their promotion hopes take a blow, as they were beaten 2-1 by Huddersfield, with Sean Scannell starting for the latter. Meanwhile, Daryl Murphy and Jay Tabb featured for the Tractor Boys.

Paul Green played the full 90 for Rotherham, who beat Brighton 1-0, despite the best efforts of second-half substitute Leon Best.

James McClean and Chris McCann both featured, as Wigan’s relegation troubles deepened amid a 2-0 loss to Derby. Richard Keogh and Jeff Hendrick played the full game for Steve McClaren’s promotion chasers.

Finally, Kevin Doyle and Matt Doherty were both unused subs in Wolves’ 4-3 win over Leeds.
