Slideshow: Record-breakers, proud Mums and stiff bodies after marathon efforts

Thousands hit the pavements of Dublin and Cork today, to raise money for charity and achieve personal bests.

TENS OF THOUSANDS of men, women and men dressed as women took to the streets of Dublin and Cork cities today as they took part in the Women’s Mini Marathon and Cork City Marathon.

In Dublin, Siobhan O’Doherty from Borrisokan AC won the mini marathon in a time of 34 minutes and 20 seconds. Fiona Roche came in second with Maria McCambridge rounding out the top three. O’Doherty was greeted at the finishing line by her proud mum, Agnes.

Bartosz Muzerski edged out Clonliffe Harriers’ Gary O’Hanlon by 23 seconds to win the men’s marathon in Cork. The Pole crossed the line in a time of 2:28:29. The winner of the women’s marathon was Olympian Pauline Curley, who edged out Angela McCann with a course record 2:47:44.
