Tottenham striker Harry Kane rules out playing for Ireland
The 21-year-old has confirmed his international future lies with England.

TOTTENHAM STRIKER HARRY Kane has ruled out the possibility of representing Ireland at international level.

The 21-year-old has Irish connections through his grandparents and had been linked with Martin O’Neill’s side, however speaking to reporters in the wake of his goalscoring turn during Spurs’ Europa League clash with AEL Limassol last night, the England under-21 star confirmed that he had no interest in switching allegiances to Ireland.

“There’s no decision there,” Kane said. “Obviously I’m playing for England’s Under-21s at the minute and I want to break into that senior squad.

“But I’m just focused on what I’m doing at my club and we’ve got a big game on Sunday [against Liverpool]. Then we go away and hopefully there’ll be a couple more goals.”

The London-born striker is considered a top prospect at White Hart Lane, scoring three goals in 10 Premier League appearances last year.

Kane was overlooked for Roy Hodgson’s recent squad to face Norway and Switzerland, however he was selected in Gareth Southgate’s latest England under-21 squad.

The news comes in the wake of reports that another English-born star, Mark Noble, is set to declare for Ireland.
