You think the weather is bad in Ireland? Torrential rain turns Accrington Stanley's pitch into a lido
The referee’s inspection was a foregone conclusion.

IT’S LITTLE WONDER last night’s League Two game between Accrington Stanley and Bury was called off.

Torrential rain in the North of England yesterday left the playing surface at the Crown Ground underwater and, to put it lightly, a bit damp.

Nevertheless, the official protocols had to be followed through by the referee and after conducting an inspection, it was little surprise he postponed the game.

This was the postponement form submitted by the referee to the Football League after he had ventured from the sanctuary of the dressing rooms to take a look at the conditions.

The scribbles, which indicate which areas of the surface were considered unplayable, certainly weren’t an exaggeration.

Game off, lads.
