Messi and Ronaldo were in absolutely ridiculous form this afternoon
The spectacular duo combined for five goals in La Liga earlier.

BARCELONA MAINTAINED THEIR narrow two-point lead at the top of La Liga after a rampant 8-0 win away to Cordoba. Once again, their three-headed attacking monster was lethal, with Luis Suarez getting a hat-trick, Leo Messi bagging a brace and Neymar converting a penalty.

Pedro, Gerard Pique and Ivan Rakitic also found the net to give Luis Enrique’s men a resounding win before his side host Bayern Munich in the Champions League semi-final first leg next week.

Their rivals Real Madrid will also be in Champions League action next week and they kept the pressure on the Catalans at the top of the table by edging Sevilla 3-2 on the road.

After Barcelona’s match, a lot was made on social media about Messi overtaking Cristiano Ronaldo in terms of La Liga goals scored this season but the Portuguese star responded emphatically by slamming home a hat-trick of his own.

Carlo Ancelotti’s men face Juventus in their semi-final first leg next week.

This is the La Liga table at the moment.
