Aston Villa suspend Agbonlahor after striker is seen partying on night of relegation
The former England striker was recently dropped from the senior squad by caretaker boss Eric Black for being unfit and overweight.

GABRIEL AGBONLAHOR’S PARTYING is no laughing matter for Aston Villa fans who are still trying to come to terms with a disastrous season.

And his latest incident, a London night out with friends and ‘laughing gas’ canisters on the night of Villa’s relegation, has landed him with a suspension from his employers.

A 1-0 defeat to Manchester United on Saturday confirmed the club’s relegation from the Premier League with four games to play, as the long-approaching death knell finally sounded.

Agbonlahor, 29, has been at the centre of attention for all the wrong reasons this season. The former England international has scored just once in 18 games and was at the centre of a recent shisha pipe incident in Dubai.

Caretaker boss Eric Black also recently dropped Agbonlahor, the club’s longest-serving player, from the Villa squad after accusing him of being unfit and overweight.

And Agbonlahor is back in the headlines after pictures of him surfaced from a night out, with a number of nitrous oxide canisters, also known as laughing gas, only hours after Villa’s relegation to the Championship was confirmed.

According to The Sun, Agbonlahor was pictured partying with friends at London’s Mayfair Hotel on Saturday night. Aston Villa have responded by suspending the striker.

“Aston Villa Football Club has today suspended Gabby Agbonlahor pending an internal investigation,” the club said in a statement.

“This is following allegations concerning his conduct at the weekend.

“There will be no further comment from the Club in relation to this matter until the investigation has been completed.”

It is just the latest twist in Villa’s nightmare few days; defender Joleon Lescott failed to endear himself to Villa fans when he suggested relegation had come as a relief after their defeat at Old Trafford.

“Now it’s confirmed maybe it’s a weight off the shoulders and we can give these fans what they deserve, some performances,” Lescott said in a post-match press conference.
