MUNSTER WILL WEAR their alternative jersey for tomorrow’s Champions Cup game against Stade Français at Thomond Park despite the fact they are the home team.
Munster mistakenly failed to pack their black kit for last weekend’s trip to Paris, forcing Stade to wear their own white and pink alternative jersey to avoid a colour clash.
European Professional Club Rugby (EPCR) regulations state if a club fails to wear the strip designated by the EPCR and there is a colour clash, that club, in this case Munster, must change strip.
However, the Irish province arrived in the French capital with only their traditional red kit due to ‘human error.’

A Munster spokesperson told the The42 that Stade were ‘very accommodating’ and an agreement was made for Anthony Foley’s side to return the favour on Saturday afternoon.
EPCR confirmed the kit change for the Pool 4 fixture in Limerick with the French Top 14 outfit set to wear their pink jersey.
“It was a genuine error by Munster last weekend. This will be considered in our review of all matches at the conclusion of the pool stage,” a spokesperson for the tournament’s organisers said.
“Munster will be wearing their black strip at Thomond Park tomorrow and Stade Francais will be wearing pink.”
In addition to the mix-up, Munster were forced to change the sponsor’s logo on the front of their alternative strip for the annual Bank of Ireland ‘Sponsor for a Day’ winner.
Each season, a local company wins the prize of sponsoring Munster for a European game. Shannon-based CelgenTek were this year’s winners and the province confirmed their logo would appear on the jersey this weekend despite the kit change.
