Rangers sack manager Caixinha after just seven months in charge
RANGERS HAVE SACKED manager Pedro Caixinha, after just seven months in charge at the Glasgow club.
A statement on the Rangers FC website explains that the decision was taken ‘after careful consideration and the search for a new manager will begin immediately.’
The end of his time in charge makes him the shortest serving manager in the club’s history, according to BBC Sport.
46-year-old Caixinha won 14 of his 26 games including a 1-1 draw against Kilmarnock on Wednesday, which has left Rangers sitting in fourth place on the Scottish Premiership table.
They are also eight points behind city rivals Celtic, who defeated them 2-0 in September.
Assistant manager Helder Baptista and coaches Pedro Malta and Jose Belman are also departing their roles as head development squad coach Graeme Murty takes over in the interim.
The club statement also reads:
“We thank Pedro and his backroom staff for their efforts and commitment and wish them well for the future.”
