ORLA BARRY CLAIMED Ireland’s third gold medal of the day at the World Para-Athletics European Championships in Berlin after she prevailed in the T57 discus.
The Cork woman completed a superb day for Ireland in Berlin after Jason Smyth and Greta Streimikyte also took the top podium position in their respective events.
Barry grabbed the gold medal after six throws and her longest effort was 28.76 metres, which put her ahead of second-placed Martina Willing of Germany.

Meanwhile, Derry sprinter Smyth set a championship record after he stormed to a gold medal in the 200m T13 final, while Lithuanian-born Greta Streimikyte also took gold in the T13 1500m final.
Meath’s Paul Keogan narrowly missed out on a medal in the men’s 400m T37 final.
