AHEAD OF HIS retirement from racing this weekend, AP McCoy has given a superb interview to The Guardian’s Donald McRae.
McCoy, the 20-time champion jockey, will ride for the final time tomorrow at Sandown before calling it a day following a remarkably successful career.
During his sit-down with McRae, the conversation turned to Roy Keane. And it appears that AP is a massive fan of the Republic of Ireland assistant manager.
“I really like Roy Keane,” said McCoy. “He seems as mad as I am. I find him amusing as a pundit. I love it when someone says such-and-such had a good game. And Keane says: ‘That’s his job. He’s supposed to have a good game.’
“He’s right. That footballer’s getting paid 200 fucking grand a week… what’s he supposed to do? He’s meant to run faster than the fella besides him. Jesus, that’s mad. I can see a lot of similarities between me and Roy Keane.”
The full interview — which you can find here — is well worth a read.
