Messi brace and Rojo finish see Argentina past Musa-inspired Nigeria

The Barcelona magician scored with a beautiful free-kick just before half time.

ARGENTINA HAVE BEATEN Nigeria 3-2 in their Group F clash at the World Cup, thanks to a brace from Lionel Messi and a further goal from Marcos Rojo.

The Barcelona maestro blasted home from close-range in the third minute when the ball bobbled up for him following Angel dí María’s effort on Vincent Enyeama’s goal.

But just a minute later, Ahmed Musa scored for the Nigerians to level matters, curling home a stunning effort from the left.

In first-half stoppage time, Messi put the Argentinians back into the lead with a beautifully-struck free kick.

However, Musa was again up to the task of bringing his team back into the game, tucking away a finish to Sergio Romero’s left in the 47th minute.

There was a swift response once again as the Argentines went back into the lead in the 50th minute, with Rojo getting a fortunate touch to finish past Enyeama after a corner. Ultimately, that proved the winning goal in Porto Alegre.
