Aston Villa and Leicester charged by the FA after Saturday's shemozzle

Paul Lambert’s side have also announced the signing of Carles Gil from Valencia.

THE FOOTBALL ASSOCIATION has announced that Leicester City and Aston Villa have been charged over the conduct of their players during their Premier League encounter on Saturday.

The charges relate to an injury-time shoving match that erupted following a late challenge on Villa’s Jores Okore by Leicester’s Matty James, which saw James and Villa defender Ciaran Clark sent off.

“It is alleged that during added time at the end of the second half, both clubs failed to ensure their players conducted themselves in an orderly fashion and/or refrained from provocative behaviour,” the FA said in a statement on its website.

The two clubs have until 1800 GMT on Friday to respond to the charges.

Leicester won the match 1-0 courtesy of a Paul Konchesky goal.

Meanwhile, Villa have announced the signing of Spanish U-21 winger Carles Gil from Valencia.

The midfielder has signed a four-and-a-half-year deal with the Midlands’ side paying £3.2m for his services.

Manager Paul Lambert told the club’s official website:

We’ve been on the lookout for a creative player and he will certainly bring that extra element to the side. He’s only 22 years of age but he will come here and give us something I don’t think we have at the moment.”

“He can play either role, coming in off the sides or playing in behind as well. He can create chances and get those chances put away. He has a lot to offer and I know we can get the best out of him.”
