STEPHEN MOORE VOWED that Australia will not change their approach of going for tries rather than kicks at goal as they digest a historic Test series defeat to England.

The Wallabies turned down opportunities to get points on the board when they went for touch rather than the boot of Bernard Foley from the tee after being awarded penalties as they attempted a fightback in the second Test in Melbourne on Saturday.

A magnificent defensive display from England ensured they frustrated Australia time and time again, sealing a first series victory Down Under with a 23-7 victory which gave them an unassailable 2-0 lead.

Australia captain Moore defended the calls to pass up potential three-pointers after his converted try following a rolling maul late in the first half was all Michael Cheika’s men could muster.

“All those decisions are made in the context of the game, the coaching team has input into that and we talk about it during the week,” the hooker said.

“In every game you make the decision you think is best for the team and we’re going to keep doing that.”

Wallabies defence coach Nathan Grey echoed Moore’s sentiments.

He said: “We always back what the leadership on the field want to do, we have a clear plan and choosing to take those kicks to the corner, we scored a try off a rolling maul and we were able to do that really well,

“If we do that and then score the points we’re having a different conversation.

“It’s just a matter of identifying what to do at the right time during a game and we’ll always back our leaders to make those right decisions.”

Australia will be out to avoid a whitewash when the two sides meet in Sydney this Saturday.
