SBG fighter gets title shot as BAMMA returns to the 3Arena this June

Chris Fields will take on Scot Paul Craig for the light heavyweight title.

AFTER THE SUCCESS of its first ever Irish events in September and February, British MMA promotion BAMMA has announced a return to Dublin this summer.

Several of the country’s top prospects were in action previously and the 3Arena will once again play host on Saturday, 4 June, with hometown fighter Chris Fields named in the main event.

The SBG man (11-7) has been handed a shot at the light heavyweight title at BAMMA 26 as he meets current champion Paul Craig (8-0).

While Scot Craig has racked up eight consecutive victories since turning professional in 2013, Fields got back to winning ways when he submitted Dan Konecke in the first round at BAMMA 24 after a run of three losses and one draw.

Fields’ SBG team-mate James Gallagher (3-0) will also face Sean Tobin (4-2) in a featherweight showdown on the night.

19-year-old Strabane native Gallagher has just been signed by US-based promotion Bellator so it will be the last chance for Irish fans to see the talented youngster before he heads Stateside later this year.

Paul Redmond is also expected to make his BAMMA debut at the event, fighting for the first time since he was released by the UFC.
