Mayo midfielder Moran retires from inter-county football

The Castlebar Mitchels man will reportedly travel abroad to work.

MAYO MIDFIELDER BARRY Moran has announced his retirement from inter-county football, according to local reports in Mayo tonight.

Midwest Radio reported that the 32-year-old will travel abroad to work, though he will remain with Castlebar Mitchels for the time being.

An U21 All-Ireland winner in 2006, Moran appeared in the Senior Football Championship decider for the green and red on four occasions, starting in 2012 and coming off the bench in 2006, 2013 and 2016.

He helped his club to the brink of All-Ireland success too, but lost finals in 2014 and 2016 and has endured a luckless run of injury in recent years.
