Borussia Dortmund ran riot against Dundalk's Champions League conquerers tonight

Legia Warsaw were thumped 6-0 by the Bundesliga giants in their own backyard.

LEGIA WARSAW ARE back in the group stages of the Champions League since 1996 but an intense atmosphere at the Stadion Wojska Polskiego was quickly extinguished by a hungry and ruthless Borussia Dortmund side this evening.

Mario Gotze grabbed an opener after just 7 minutes before Sokratis Papastathopoulos headed home the German side’s second eight minutes later.

And moments later, Marc Bartra added a third in the 17th minute to leave Legia requiring a miracle to force a way back into the game.

But Dortmund were in no mood to relax.

Shortly after the restart, Raphael Guerreiro scored a fourth while substitute Gonzalo Castro and Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang put further gloss to the scoreline and make it a whopping 6-0 at full-time.

The home fans had put on a show before the game started, unveiling a magnificent tifo to herald the return of elite European football to Poland.

But, Dortmund didn’t get the memo and wreaked absolute havoc to ruin the party atmosphere.
