The tournament favourites shook off the disappointment of losing to Namibia and won out comfortably in their second qualifier on Wednesday.

IRELAND PUT THEIR opening day defeat behind them to overcome Kenya with a 10-wicket win in Dubai this morning.

Bidding to progress to the World Twenty20 finals in Sri Lanka later in the year, Ireland’s chances took a setback when they lost out to Namibia by four runs on Tuesday.

However, they were always in control against their African opponents here, who they bowled out for 71.

Boyd Rankin claimed three wickets and Alex Cusack, John Mooney and George Dockrell took two each, while captain William Porterfield scored a 56 from 27 balls – hitting eight fours and two sixes.

Next up is a trip to Abu Dhabi where they meet Italy on Thursday as Ireland bid to claim one of the two spots up for grabs.
