HUNDREDS OF FAMILIES in the Dublin area will benefit from a generous donation from the Mrs Brown creator and star Brendan O’Carroll to the St Vincent de Paul this Christmas.
O’Carroll has gifted hundreds of vouchers for turkey and ham to the Dublin region of the Society of St Vincent de Paul with families who may be struggling this festive season set to benefit.
The comedian has set up an arrangement so that the vouchers can be brought to Dunnes Stores and can be exchanged for a turkey and ham.
“He’s a bit reluctant about the arrangements but we’d estimate that over a thousand people will get turkey and ham. He did this last year as well, so it’s the second year he has done it which is great,” a spokesperson for SVP told TheJournal.ie.
Andy Doogue, President of the SVP Dublin Region thanked Brendan O’Carroll saying that the donation was “really generous” and ”given in an imaginative yet practical way”.
He added: “This year in particular we are receiving requests for food more than ever. Our volunteers will ensure that families who are most in need will benefit from Brendan O’Carroll’s generosity.”
