Fans need to put in the hard yards too.

IT’S THE MOST magical time of the year for rugby fans.

The Six Nations is about to kick off and you need to get organised. Here’s how you can get ahead of the game and enjoy a winning tournament.

1. Bookmark airline and accommodation sites for Cardiff, Edinburgh and Rome

Study it like the stock market so you can book a quick getaway for an away game if the prices drop.

2. Revise a few French phrases – hors de combat, joie de vivre, Top Quatorze, Beaucilier de brennus – to impress your friends at the Les Bleus game

You’ll want to sound like you know what you’re on about when discussing the game on Baggot Street, obviously.

3. Do not forget it’s Valentine’s Day when the French are at the Aviva

You’re going to need to plan ahead for this one. Get the card, present or flowers the night before. Maybe get up early to make your other half breakfast in bed and then surprise them with a spa day… Which means you can head off to the match while they enjoy being pampered. Everyone’s a winner.

4. Get the breakfast in early, so you’ll have a clear run at the day

Take a leaf out of Hooky and Popey’s book. Efficient.

5. Drink lots of tea with honey – you want your vocal cords in peak condition so you can belt out the anthems like Peter O’Mahony

That lad will go far.

6. Get your head around the permutations good and early

Do we want Wales to beat England? What about when Ireland play France? Your friends will want to know and you can be the guru of the group.

7. Warning: Ireland v Wales is the day before Mothers Day

Get the dinner sorted beforehand to avoid cooking with a massive head on you* on Sunday morning. You’re welcome.

8. Refresh your memory on the opposition anthems. Well, France, Wales and Italy anyway

Tom Jones like tunes are also acceptable later in the evening. Try Delilah and then straight into Sex Bomb for best results.

9. Book 23 March off work — you’ll want to celebrate Ireland’s back-to-back triumph with a LONG weekend

And you’ll need to get organised for the World Cup of course.

10. Give yourself one last talking to before you head out to the game

Did you put the fear of God into them?
