AS IT HAPPENED

As it happened: Chelsea v Tottenham, Premier League

Spurs travelled to Stamford Bridge hoping to erase sour memories of their defeat there last year.

Good evening and welcome to today’s liveblog.

When these sides met at the tail end of last season, Spurs squandered a two goal lead and surrended the title to Leicester City. The 2-2 draw was filled with action – 12 yellows and a scrap between both benches.

Spurs arrive in Stamford Bridge looking to put a few things right from that title-losing draw. They currently sit four points behind Chelsea, who’ve enjoyed six straight wins.

Here’s how the sides will line up:

Here we go…

GOAL DISALLOWED! Harry Kane puts the ball in the back of the Chelsea net, but he’s adjudged to be offside.

Spurs have started very well.

Kane is fouled by Pedro and the England striker sends the resultant free kick high over the crossbar.

GOAL FOR SPURS! It’s no more than Tottenham deserved. Christian Eriksen fires in the game’s opening goal from outside the area. He’s a phenomenal striker of the ball from distance.

Eriksen whips a cross into the Chelsea box but Courtois comes out to claim it. Chelsea need to step things up a notch here for they’ll find themselves two behind. Spurs are quicker to every ball.

As a sign of Tottenham’s growing confidence, Dembele fires away a strike after Spurs played keep ball on the edge of Chelsea’s box. 1990 was the last year Tottenham won at Stamford Bridge – at the moment it’s looking 2016 could follow suit.

Hazard wins a free after cutting inside from the left flank. He takes it himself but Hugo Lloris makes a relatively easy save.

Spurs are content sitting back and letting Chelsea pass the ball in front of them. With seven minutes to go until half-time, Spurs still lead 1-0.

GOAL FOR CHELSEA! Pedro equalises on the stroke of half-time with a lovely finish past Lloris. We’re all level, despite the dominance of Tottenham for most of that half.

We’re back underway for the second-half.

GOAL VICTOR MOSES! Where was the Spurs defence? Chelsea pick up a loose ball in midfield and Costa drives to the endline, before pulling the ball back for Moses to slot home.

Chelsea have really turned this game around. Win this game and they’ll go back to the top of the Premier League tonight. After a taxing outing in Europe during the week, can Tottenham battle back?

Chelsea are well on top now. Azpilicueta attempts a near post flick from a corner, but it fails to trouble Courtois.

Spurs have 30 minutes to keep their unbeaten Premier League record intact.

CHANCE! Tottenham fashion an opening out of nothing after David Luiz gives the ball away on the half way line. Eriksen did well to adjust his body and get a shot away, but Courtois saves well.

Spurs replace Deli Alli with Nkoudou. Alli’s last contribution was been flagged offside after an incisive Harry Kane pass.

Alonos sees the run of Costa and plays a perfeclty weighted cross to the Spain international at the back post. Costa’s header is off target.

Meanwhile, Hazard makes way to a standing ovation at Stamford Bridge.

Ivanovic is in for Moses, while Oscar replaces the goalscorer Pedro.

Tottenham are starting to ask a few questions here in the closing stages. Willian picks up a yellow as Spurs attack. Can Spurs find an equaliser with Kane and Janssen up front?

We’ll have three minutes of added time.

FT: CHELSEA 2-1 TOTTENHAM

That’s a seventh straight win for Chelsea as Tottenham lose their first league game of the season. Conte’s Chelsea are back on top of the Premier League.
