Goals from two Irishmen saved Chesterfield from a third round FA Cup exit tonight

Eoin Doyle and Jay O’Shea provided the goals as Paul Cook’s side battled back from 2 -0 down.

CHESTERFIELD PRODUCED A gutsy recovery against Scunthorpe with goals from Eoin Doyle and Jay O’Shea forcing a 2 -2 draw in tonight’s FA Cup third round tie.

Playing for the right to face Derby in the fourth round, Scunthorpe took a 2 -0 lead into half-time thanks to goals from Alex Davey and Lyle Taylor.

However, with 20 minutes remaining former Shelbourne and Sligo Rovers striker Doyle converted a penalty to ignite The Spireites’ fightback. And six minutes from time the momentum had fully shifted to the visitors after O’Shea drove in the equaliser.
