After a superb debut season in England, there's more good news for Chris Forrester

The 23-year-old Dubliner has been named as Peterborough’s new skipper.

CHRIS FORRESTER ENJOYED an excellent debut season with Peterborough United but his second looks set to be even better.

The 23-year-old former Bohemians and St. Patrick’s Athletic player has been named as the Posh skipper for the new campaign.

He made 32 appearances in all competitions for the League One outfit, scoring twice, while he dazzled during a televised FA Cup tie with West Brom in February.

The following month, Forrester, who has been involved with the Irish Under-21s previously. received his first ever senior call-up for the friendlies against Switzerland and Slovakia.

Explaining why he chose the Dubliner as his captain, Posh boss Grant McCann said:

“The reason I chose Chris was because of his temperament and his character, two attributes that I feel will make him a good leader. His ability is there for all to see on the pitch.

He might not be the most vocal man, but what he does on the pitch inspires others and when he speaks, the team listen.

“I said to Chris, ‘just be yourself, there is no need to change’ and I am confident he will take it in his stride. He played an awful lot of games last year with the Irish season into a full Football League campaign, so he will be able to cope with this league season no problem.”
