Connacht want your money in €50k crowd funding campaign -- and here's what you'll get

Fancy a thank you note from Eric Elwood? Or a brick in the wall at the Sportsground?

IF YOU EVER wanted a personalised thank you from Eric Elwood or to have a brick in the wall at the Sportsground, now is your chance.

Connacht launched a new crowd funding campaign this morning which they hope will bring in €50,000 in additional funds to develop the next wave of Irish talent.

The “Grassroots to Green Shirts” initiative aims to tap into a broad base of supporters for small donations, offering rewards for anyone who donates at least €10.

The funds raised will then be used to supplement the existing investment by Connacht and the IRFU, estimated by the province at €1.5 million per annum. At least €40,000 is spent on each player who is brought through Connacht’s elite pathway to professional standards.

“Our aspiration is to see a system that leads to our players achieving the highest accolades in rugby such as representing the British and Irish Lions,” Connacht said today.

“We want young fans around the province to see a Connacht player lead the Irish team out in their famous green shirts at a Rugby World Cup or even lift the Webb Ellis trophy.”

But what will you get for your hard-earned cash? Here’s the list of rewards:

  • €10 Thank you from Eric
  • €25 Thank you and big shout out from us all at Connacht Rugby on Facebook
  • €50 Thank you and signed team poster
  • €100 Thank you and 2 match tickets
  • €250 Thank you and brick in Commemorative Wall at the Sportsground
  • €500 Thank you and invitation to private Friends of Connacht Event with team and coaches in Summer 2013
  • €1000 Thank you and signed Connacht Rugby jersey
