'Come on, let me rest!' Ronaldo to skip Wembley friendly against England

Portuguese superstar to skip Thursday’s warm-up match.

CRISTIANO RONALDO WILL skip Portugal’s final Euro 2016 warm-up friendly against England to rest after his long club season with Real Madrid.

Ronaldo scored the winning penalty as Real beat city rivals Atletico in Saturday night’s Champions League final to clinch la Undécima – a brilliant 11th European title.

Portugal travel to Wembley on Thursday as both sides tune up before flying out to France, but they will do so without the three-time World Player of the Year.

“No, come on, let me rest my legs,” he told the Guardian.

Now is the time to rest and enjoy this moment.

I have six days to be prepared to play a good competition.

[I am] very tired. I have [played] more than 4,000 minutes this season.
