DARRON GIBSON’S FIVE-year association with Everton has come to an end as the midfielder today agreed a move to Sunderland.

The 29-year-old Ireland international was way down the pecking order under Ronald Koeman with his only two first team appearances for the Toffees this season coming in the EFL Cup and the EFL Trophy.

Black Cats boss David Moyes is desperate to bolster his squad during the January transfer window and this afternoon snapped up Manchester United youth product Gibson and Everton team-mate Bryan Oviedo on 18-month and three-and-a-half year deals respectively.

Sunderland, who face Tottenham at home tomorrow evening, are currently rock bottom of the Premier League with just 15 points from 22 matches.
