Meanwhile, Ireland’s Olympic silver medallists Gary and Paul O’Donovan made tomorrow’s lightweight men’s double sculls final.
After their success in the repechage yesterday, the O’Donovans finished second in today’s semi-final, pipping German pair Jason Osborne and Lucas Schaefer to the runners-up spot, while France’s Pierre Houin and Jerome Azou, who beat the Irish stars to gold at the Olympics last August, came first.
In addition, another Irish duo, Mark O’Donovan and Shane O’Driscoll, will compete in Sunday’s Lightweight Pair’s final following their success yesterday.
