WORLD NUMBER ONE Dustin Johnson continued his fine run of form after taking out the WGC Dell Technologies Match Play.

After winning his last two starts, Johnson made it three in a row by outlasting Jon Rahm one up to emerge triumphant on Sunday.

The in-form American also has six wins in total since capturing the U.S. Open last year as the Masters loom.

Johnson, who is now the first player to win all four World Golf Championship events, beat Zach Johnson, Alex Noren, Hideto Tanihara and Rahm once out of pool play.

“I’m proud of the way I played,” said Johnson after claiming his 15th PGA Tour victory. “It was tough. The greens got really fast, the wind was affecting all the putts.

“Jon played really well. I just didn’t really give him anything.”

Rahm and Johnson battled down the stretch in Mexico earlier this month, and that was the case again, though the former once again failed to beat the world’s top-ranked golfer after losing five of six holes at one point on the front nine.

Despite the slow start, Rahm came roaring back. He won three of four holes on the back nine to trail by just one hole. The Spaniard then drove it over the green on 18, but failed to get up-and-down for a birdie.

Johnson – who did not lose a match throughout the entire competition – came up short of the green on his second shot, but two-putted to seal the victory.

Tanihara battled Johnson in the semi-final, ultimately losing one up.

He finished off his dream run with a win over Bill Haas in the consolation match to finish third and earn an invitation to the Masters next month.
