The former Fulham and West Bromwich Albion midfielder opened the scoring in superb style as he thrashed a half-volley past Rui Patricio in the memorable 3-3 draw in Lyon.
With 32% of the online votes, 37-year-old Gera won out over Xherdan Shaqiri’s outstanding overhead kick against Poland and Hal Robson-Kanu’s Cruyff turn and finish in the win over Belgium among others to claim the supporters’ nod as the finest strike at the tournament.
