La Liga: Real Madrid v Real Sociedad

Saturday, 9.30pm

Real Madrid will look to in-form Cristiano Ronaldo, Gareth Bale and Karim Benzema for a tenth La Liga win this season against Real Sociedad.

The expensively assembled front three have been in lethal form in recent weeks for the Spanish giants, scoring all 12 of Real’s goals between them in the past three matches.

Following their defeat to Barcelona in the Clasico last month, Real have seen Ronaldo score six times, while Benzema and Bale have both found the back of the net on three occasions.

That does not bode well for Sociedad, who have not beaten Saturday’s hosts in their last 12 competitive meetings, a run that stretches back to May 2004.

Sociedad arrive at the Bernabeu unbeaten in their last four matches in all competitions, however – including a 0-0 draw with Manchester United in the UEFA Champions League in midweek – but they are 11 points behind their opponents in the league table.

Bundesliga: Bayern Munich v Augsburg

Saturday, 2.30pm

Bayern Munich will set a new record for the longest unbeaten run in Bundesliga history if they avoid defeat against Augsburg.

Last season’s treble winners have not have not tasted defeat in the German top flight for 36 games, matching the total achieved by Hamburg between 1982 and 1983.

Despite that sensational run, Bayern are just one point clear of closest rivals Borussia Dortmund at the summit, with Jurgen Klopp’s men set to face Wolfsburg this weekend.

History is on the side of Pep Guardiola’s men as they close in on the remarkable milestone, having won all five of the previous meetings between the sides.

Serie A: Juventus v Napoli

Sunday, 7.45pm

Juventus host Napoli as the two sides bid to close the gap on Serie A leaders Roma.

The clubs lie third and second respectively, separated only by goal difference, and are just three points adrift of the league’s standout performers so far this season.

Both have kept up the pressure on Roma in recent weeks and will have spotted a chance to pounce, with Rudi Garcia’s men having dropped points for the first time this term in a 1-1 draw with Torino last time out.

Juve picked up a 1-0 victory at Parma last weekend before battling to a 2-2 draw with Real Madrid in the UEFA Champions League.

Napoli took part in their own continental thriller on Wednesday as they ran out 3-2 victors over Marseille, having beaten Catania 2-1 last Saturday in domestic action.

Ligue 1: St Etienne v Lyon

While champions Paris Saint-Germain take on Nice earlier in the evening (live on BT Sport 2 from 6.30pm) Saint-Etienne host Lyon in the Rhone derby.
Remarkably, 12th-placed Lyon have not lost away to Les Verts, currently seventh in the table, since April 1994.

However, their recent form has been poor and they have goalkeeping problems, with Anthony Lopes out after breaking two bones in his back last weekend and Remy Vercoutre only just working his way back to fitness after being out since April with a knee injury.
