Euro Vision: 4 continental games not to be missed this weekend

We’ve got some tasty ones from Germany, France, Italy and Spain.

Serie A: Juventus v Lazio

Saturday, 7.45pm

IT MAY BE only the Matchday 2 of the new Serie A season but Juventus and Lazio are already meeting for the second time later today having contested the Supercoppa.

The league champions ran out comfortable 4-0 winners with Paul Pogba, Giorgio Chiellini, Stephan Lichtsteiner and Carlos Tevez all getting on the scoresheet. Both teams have since record victories with Juve overcoming Sampdoria by a single goal away from home and Lazio seeing off Udinese.

The Biancocelesti will look to Miroslav Klose for goals as they seek to prevent a repeat of two weeks ago while Carlos Tevez has begun this career in Italy well and will surely be hoping to add to his tally.

Bundesliga: Eintracht Frankfurt v Borussia Dortmund

Sunday, 4.30pm

As Bayern Munich were busy taking on Chelsea in last night’s European Super Cup, they squeezed their Bundesliga game in on Tuesday but only managing a draw away to Freiburg.

That gives Borussia Dortmund the chance to go two points ahead of Pep Guardiola’s men with a win away to 11th-placed Eintracht Frankfurt on Sunday.

Jurgen Klopp has been hit by news that influential holding midfielder Ilkay Gundogan will face a further month on the sidelines meaning Nuri Sahin should deputise. Frankfurt come into the game on the back of a win against Eintracht Braunschweig and only lost out to Bayern 1-0 a fortnight ago.

The two top teams in Ligue 1 clash at the Velodrome as big-spending Monaco travel to neighbours Marseille.

Newly-promoted Monaco, who brought in a raft of expensive signings in the summer, are unbeaten in the first three games – winning against Bordeaux and Montpellier before a 0-0 draw with Toulouse.

2010 champions Marseille, meanwhile, have gone one better with a tally of nine points so far and this promises to be a fascinating spectacle.

La Liga: Valencia v Barcelona

Sunday, 8pm

Valencia’s Mestalla hosts the La Liga champions and the big question is whether Gerardo Martino goes with both Neymar and Lionel Messi.

The pair were named in the Barcelona starting line-up together for the first time in the second leg of the Spanish Super Cup on Wednesday but failed break down Atletico Madrid during the 0-0 stalemate.

Top after two games, they face a Valencia side who began well with a 1-0 victory over Malaga before going down to Espanyol last Saturday.
