Watch: The remarkable rise of the Fiji sevens team, from a tiny island to the world's biggest stage

HSBC have released a documentary telling their incredible story.

“AN ISLAND NATION that took on the world, overcoming tragedy to win gold,” as the trailer said.

‘Sevens From Heaven’ is the new documentary that tells the remarkable story of the Fiji Sevens team, who won their country’s first ever Olympic medal in Rio, and at that, it was gold.

The side also won the 2015/16 HSBC World Rugby Sevens Series. Fiji are currently ranked the best in the world, despite the fact that it is a tiny island with limited resources and the country’s population is only 800,000.

“Its one of those stories of these boys that can do amazing things against teams that are more developed, have more money, have more back-up, have more things in every category except that ability and that heart and that nation behind them,” head coach Ben Ryan said in the documentary.

“Every man, woman and child, they all know everything about the team because they follow it so fanatically, because it’s their team.”

Take a look at the inside set-up and see what it took to take a team from a tiny South-Pacific island to the best in the world.
