Joe Canning hits 9 points on his first start of 2017 as Galway cruise to win over Kerry

GALWAY PICKED UP their third win of the league with a straightforward victory over Kerry in Tralee.

Joe Canning posted 0-9 (0-3 from play) on his first start of the year, while Cathal Mannion fired over five points from play in an impressive performance.

Galway led by just three points at the interval, as Padraig Brehony’s first-half goal proved the difference between the sides at the midway point.

The Tribesmen opened up after the break, with Canning and Mannion to the fore of their good play in the second period.

Shane Nolan top-scored for the Kingdom with six frees, but they struggled against a strong breeze in the second-half.
