There was very little entertainment during Genk v Anderlecht but there were lots of nuns

They say football is a religion…

IT PROVED A disappointing afternoon for all in attendance at Genk’s Cristal Arena as the home side could only play out a tame scoreless draw with Anderlecht.

There may not have been much in the way of entertainment on the pitch but there was plenty off it.

During the first-half, cameras cut to a close-up of a group of nuns all sitting together and blessing themselves furiously – either with relief or in an attempt to muster up inspiration.

It seemed a sweet scene – five or six friends taking in some Sunday football action.

Then, during half-time, the camera had a bit more time to dedicate to the unique occurrence and we found out that there was quite an army of them!

We’re still not quite sure why the nuns were there but they certainly made an impression.

Maybe they should make a habit of it.
