Irish defender Duffy named in Chris Sutton's Premier League team of the season so far

The Derry native’s excellent performances at the heart of Brighton’s defence have been acknowledged.

IT’S NO SECRET that Shane Duffy has been outstanding playing at the heart of Brighton’s defence this season.

The Seagulls have built their team around the strengths of the Ireland international and central defensive partner Lewis Dunk.

Chris Hughton’s side are ninth in the table largely owing to their defensive record, having conceded 13 goals in 12 games — fewer than any of the sides below them.

Sky Sports analyst Jamie Carragher has already paid tribute to Duffy, highlighting the Derry native as a key player for Brighton.

Chris Sutton has now also made his admiration for the player known, with the ex-Blackburn and Celtic player picking Duffy in his Premier League team of the season so far.
