Hearn wants to bring Katie Taylor a title bout in Dublin

But the Bray boxer will have to take her pro show on the road quite a bit too.

KATIE TAYLOR PROMOTER Eddie Hearn, says he intends to ‘showcase Katie Taylor as often as possible’ with a view to setting the Bray boxer up for a world title bout in Dublin.

The Olympic gold medallist confirmed her move to the professional ranks today, signing up with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing outfit.

The 30-year-old already has two fights in the pipeline, with a Wembley Arena debut set up for 26 November and an undercard slot on the night of Anthony Joshua’s IBF heavyweight title defence in Manchester on 10 December.

“It’s a great start for her,” Hearn told RTE Sport this evening, “a great platform and then we build and we build and we build… to a situation where she can travel for a world title and we’d really like to do that in Dublin.”

Hearn spoke effusively about Taylor as a person, a ‘role model’ and an ‘icon’ for the sport before noting that pitching Taylor into bouts in Scandinavia, Mexico, the United States and Asia is also very much on the cards.

“The plan for us really is to showcase Katie Taylor as often as possible and to make sure people get to find out how exciting she is, find out more about her story and let the fans engage with her.”
