'We've got to get it right': Promoters given list of 12 potential opponents for Taylor's pro debut

The Bray boxer is set to make her debut in London this month.

PROMOTER EDDIE HEARN admits he is under-pressure to find Katie Taylor the right opponent for her professional boxing debut with as many as 12 fighters identified as potential rivals.

The Bray boxer is due to fight for the first time as a professional at London’s Wembley Arena this month with her opponent yet to be confirmed.

Speaking to iFL TV, Hearn said he has been sent a list of a dozen fighters to choose from for the much-anticipated fight on 26 November.

“We’ve got to pick someone who comes to fight, who looks the part stylistically,” he said.

“We’ve got to get it right; it’s got to be a good fight and a good performance. Then we have a chance.”

Taylor signed a contract with Hearn’s Matchroom Boxing last week and has also been added to the undercard for Anthony Joshua’s world title defence in Manchester in December.

Hearn has already indicated that a strong start to her pro career could see Taylor fight for a world title in Dublin at some stage next year.
