Last-gasp free forces Kildare and Wicklow to meet again after Leinster MFC thriller

The sides drew 3-13 to 3-13 after extra-time in Newbridge.

Kildare 3-13

Wicklow 3-13

A LAST-GASP FREE converted by John Keogh grabbed Wicklow a share of the spoils and a Leinster minor football championship semi-final replay after a thrilling draw with Kildare this afternoon.

Having knocked Dublin out of the competition last week, Wicklow’s brilliant campaign reached new heights at St Conleth’s Park as they showed incredible resolve to conjure a late comeback.

There was nothing to separate the sides on a 2-9 to 1-12 scoreline after a pulsating contest in regular time, before Kildare seized the advantage in the first half of extra-time.

But Wicklow weren’t to be denied and thanks to Eoin Darcy’s goal and Keogh’s free, they reeled the hosts in to set up a replay, details of which have yet to be confirmed.

Wicklow are bidding to win just their second Leinster MFC title.
