WEST BROM FOOTBALLER Liam Ridgewell has a lot of explaining to do.
The star was photographed wiping his bum with £20 notes, as a consequence of a bet, and the embarrassing photo was then sent to The Sun by an anonymous West Brom fan, and the paper subsequently decided to publish it.
Ridgewell, who reportedly earns £20,000 a week, has since apologised for his behaviour, saying:
“The photo was taken in the privacy of my home around eight months ago as a joke to wind up a mate, who I had just won a personal bet with.
“I only intended him to see the photo but now it’s public, I can understand how it will be viewed. I am sorry for any offence it causes.”
Meanwhile, a spokesperson for West Brom said that the matter would be dealt with internally.
The defender, who has played 25 times since signing for the Baggies from Birmingham, was an unused sub in the club’s 1-0 defeat by Stoke yesterday.
