London now undefeated in five games against Waterford after big win in Dungarvan

Waterford’s bogey team inflicted more Allianz Football League misery on them today at Fraher Field.

LONDON SECURED THEIR first Allianz Football League win of the season when they overcame Waterford this afternoon at Fraher Field.

Ciaran Deely’s men are now undefeated in their last five outings against the Deise after recording a 0-13 to 0-12 win today in Division 4.

Waterford have failed to taste victory against London since they were relegated from Division 3 in 2011, suffering three defeats and drawing twice.

London were without a win in the current campaign going into the game in Dungarvan, while Waterford had lost four out of five, with their only victory coming away to Carlow on 28 February.

Playing with the benefit of the wind in the first-half, the visitors — who are captained by Down defender Dave McGreevy — led by just a point at the interval — 0-8 to 0-7.

But Waterford — for whom JJ Hutchinson contributed nine points — looked set to seal the win as they led by two points — 0-12 to 0-10 — with just a couple of minutes of normal time remaining.

However, London produced a strong finish to register three points without reply, the last of which came courtesy of former Laois player Cathal Óg Greene in the dying seconds.

The win was London’s fourth in the Allianz League since 2013, three of which have come at Waterford’s expense.

Division 4 round-up

Elsewhere in the basement tier, Antrim secured their promotion to Division 3 with a 2-13 to 1-12 win over Wicklow.

Louth also confirmed they’ll be playing in a higher division in 2017 as a brace of injury-time points helped them to a narrow 0-13 to 0-11 victory against Wexford.

Louth led by five at the break after a confident opening half but Wexford dragged themselves into the game and found themselves level after 66 minutes. But late points from Ryan Burns and Gerard McSorely handed Louth the win.

Division 3 results :
Louth 0-13 Wexford 0-11
Waterford 0-12 London 0-13
Wicklow 1-12 Antrim 2-13
