One county is looking back to the future in the hunt for a new manager

Longford will hold interviews for the vacant senior football manager role next week.

THE SEARCH FOR the new Longford senior football manager has been narrowed down to three familiar faces according to reports last night.

The Longford Leader says there are three names in the hat to replace Jack Sheedy who left the position last month after two years in charge following a heavy defeat to Kildare in the Qualifiers.

Denis Connerton, Ciaran Fox and Eugene McCormack are all on the shortlist to replace the Dubliner with interviews set to begin next week.

Connerton stepped down as Longford senior boss back in 2004 despite leading his county to division one of the National Football League during his three years in charge, a shock Leinster championship defeat to Carlow eventually proving his undoing.

Fox is a former Longford minor manager while McCormack was involved with the minors as a selector this season.
