A MAN IS due to appear in court in Scotland this morning in connection with alleged Neil Lennon sectarian hate websites.
BBC News reports that the 24-year-old man is alleged to have created internet websites where hate messages against Celtic boss Lennon were posted last season.
He is due to appear at Stirling Sheriff Court in Scotland this morning with the head of Football Co-ordination Unit which is running a joint operation with Strathclyde and Central Scotland Police forces saying: “Please be warned, if you do post hatred over the internet, you may not be arrested today, but we will be paying you a visit some time in the future.”
Lennon has faced a number of sectarian threats in recent months with two men arrested in April in connection with online hate campaigns targeting members of both Celtic and Old Firm rivals Rangers.
Also in April, the former Northern Ireland international was targeted in a parcel bomb attack in which viable explosive devices were addressed to him and two other high-profile supporters of Celtic.
Lennon, who is a Catholic, was forced to end his international football career in 2002 after being appointed Northern Ireland captain which led to him receiving death threats from some Loyalist followers of the team.
