IT WASN’T ALL doom and gloom for Irish rugby this weekend, there were three wins (and the U20s) to celebrate. Here’s how the provinces got on.
Connacht 30 Ospreys 22
Matt Healy showed off his finishing prowess yet again, but also proved he is more than that to set up Bundee Aki as Connacht continued their run at the top of the table.
Cardiff Blues 23 Ulster 13
Centre Sam Arnold showed Munster fans a glimpse of what to expect from him as he set up Craig Gilroy’s score. Unfortunately Ulster were unable to build on the advantage.
Treviso 13 Munster 16
When it rains it pours (for Francis Saili’s try-scoring) and though the win wasn’t pretty, it helps Munster close the gap to the top four after Ulster and Scarlets both lost.
Zebre 10 Leinster 27
Leinster were also in Italy, so they too had to deal with heavy going. But watch out for a tidy first touch from Adam Byrne to set himself up for a clever try.
Dragons 15 Glasgow 18
The champions are picking up steam week by week. A bonus point win in their game in hand would suddenly thrust them into fifth (though the big caveat there is that the game in hand is at home to Leinster).
Edinburgh 24 Scarlets 23
A horribly shanked penalty from Aled Thomas ensured Edinburgh hung on for a win to deny Scarlets back-to-back away wins.
