MELBOURNE CITY FC have today confirmed the signing of ex-Ireland international Liam Miller, killing off any hope of a rumoured move to Cork City.
Miller has been playing in Australia since 2011 and recently had his contract with Brisbane Roar terminated, subsequently explaining that he felt “disrespected” by the manager there.
Yet a return to his native Cork will have to wait, with Melbourne announcing the acquisition of the former Celtic and Sunderland player via a statement on their official website today:
“Melbourne City FC can announce that Liam Miller will join the Club on a short-term contract and will be available for selection for this Sunday’s Hyundai A-League match against the Central Coast Mariners at AAMI Park.
“Miller, 33, will be eligible for selection under Football Federation Australia’s National Team Replacement Player rule.
“Miller trained with Melbourne City FC this morning and will be in John van’t Schip’s calculations for this week’s match against the Mariners.”
