Floyd Mayweather puts on defensive masterclass to beat Manny Pacquiao by unanimous decision

Money’s now 48-0 and he never broke a sweat.

THE MATCH THAT was billed as the fight of the century failed to live up to the massive hype. But it was always going to be tough to do so.

Those who shelled out for the pay-per-view event at least got their money’s worth with the bout going the full 12 rounds.

Mayweather was the winner according to all the judges ringside, though Pacquiao insisted afterwards that he though he’d done enough to pull off a shock.

“He did nothing,” the Filipino fighter said of his opponent’s defensive performance.

Despite boos from a pro-Pacquiao crowd at the MGM Grand Garden Arena, Mayweather counterpunched and jabbed his way to another win. Two judges favored Mayweather 116-112, while a third had it 118-110.

Mayweather danced, ducked and peppered Pacquiao with enough punches to take the decision, while Pacquiao rushed forward and attempted to land combinations and big shots. Mayweather’s jab and straight right hand mostly kept Pacquiao at bay, except in a few sensational exchanges along the ropes.

The crowd booed the final decision and booed Mayweather. The 48-0 champ, for his part, revealed he’ll fight one more time — in September — before he ‘hangs it up’.
